For architects and engineers

Responses recorded against the items they answer.

The architect or engineer of record prepares the contract documents, responds to requests for information, reviews submittals and shop drawings for conformance with the design concept and the information given in the contract documents, and certifies applications for payment.

BuildControl keeps each response with the item it answers and makes it readable by every party on the project, so the same question does not have to be asked again.

Requests for information

A response is recorded against the request, with its date and the sheets it referenced, and stays readable to everyone on the project.

Submittal review and the register

Spec section, responsible party, lead time and need-by date. Approved, approved as noted, revise and resubmit, or rejected — each recorded as the outcome it is, with the reason attached.

Certification of payment applications

Certify the work in whole or in part. Where a different amount is certified, the figure is held inside the signed entry and covered by its certificate, so the amount certified cannot be restated by another party.
